3D Laser Scanning and Modelling Services
Array provides 3D laser scanning and modelling services to support the on-going research activities of the Human Modelling Group at Defense Research and Development Canada - Toronto. The primary aim of this data acquisition and modelling work is to produce highly accurate 3D models of objects, such as the inside and outside of aircraft, land vehicles, ships and buildings. Array produced three graphics models of several Canadian Forces aircrafts processed from laser scan data: the exterior, interior, and main pilotage objects. These Polygon and Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) surface models are scalable, and logically arranged in groups and/or layers. They also represent graphically the range of motions in the cockpit of the cyclics, collectives, pedals, and seats.
These models are particularly suited to human factors studies and design, including:
- Design of rapid hardware prototypes for the determination of critical clearances
- Usability simulations
- Reach studies
- Visualizing team dynamics in search and rescue scenarios
