Radar and Remote Sensing
Array has been developing advanced radar data- and signal-processing systems for over 20 years. Our areas of expertise include developing leading-edge algorithms, producing complex systems, and performing system integration. We first became involved with airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) surveillance systems in the early 1980s, and have worked on a number of advanced development projects since then. Our project experience includes delivering a SAR simulation toolbox to Japan, Korea, and a South American customer, and we are currently under contract to develop a SAR toolbox for an international customer (click here to read the Press Release). Our experience also includes delivering a Spotlight Synthetic Aperture Radar (SSAR) Advanced Development Model (ADM) and a digital scan converter for Lockheed Martin Canada for a Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) upgrade to the existing AN/APS-506 radar on the Canadian Forces CP-140 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and Image Processing Software (IPS) for the Searchwater 2000MR radar for Thales Defence Ltd. With these advanced development projects, Array has become an international leader in producing and deploying maritime patrol radar surveillance systems.
In addition to radar, Array has also been actively involved in the area of remote sensing. Array offers remote sensing technology to its customers by tailoring each installation to satisfy the user’s specific needs. We can provide satellite ground station components, or complete turn-key systems. We also participate in technology transfer and development programs. Array has been an active partner in Canadian and international Remote Sensing programs since its inception. Array’s most recent contribution in the area of remote sensing is the implementation of the L2 Soil Moisture prototype processor and core operational processor for the SMOS satellite for the European Space Agency (ESA). Array is also currently under contract to ESA to develop the Next ESA SAR Toolbox (NEST) for viewing and post processing of satellite SAR imagery.
