AEOSS - Array's Earth Observation Satellite System

Array's Earth Observation Satellite System (AEOSS) is a cost-effective solution for automating existing international ground station operations. The AEOSS uses earth observation satellites to provide reliable and efficient reception, archiving, distribution and management of data in computer readable formats. Our system reduces the turn-around-time for data delivery and eliminates data loss caused by human error. This results in significant savings in station operation, data delivery, and archive management.

What does that mean to you? Everything that you want to do with satellite data is made easier and saves you time and money. With AEOSS, you can manage your work orders over LAN/WAN communication networks. The system operates for extended periods of time without human intervention and it can be easily integrated into a larger network of automatic ground station operations. The AEOSS also has user-friendly Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), making it an easy system to operate and maintain.

The AEOSS archives sensor data for a variety of satellites including SPOT 1-4, Landsat TM, Landsat 7, Radarsat, IRS 1C and 1D, and ERS. Array recognises that the number of new satellites increases all the time, so we offer upgrade software for your system with a simple software download.

Array's system is flexible and fast. The AEOSS ingests raw serial data in real time and archives the data in less than 45 minutes. The system also delivers metadata to any designated system in less than 90 minutes of reception. (Metadata refers to any data used to identify, describe and locate networked electronic resources.) The AEOSS is automated, fast, and free from human errors.

The AEOSS consists of one Archive Subsystem (AS) and up to 8 Reception Preprocessor Subsystems (RPSs).

The AEOSS uses Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware to support the existing system. Multiprocessor PC-based hardware platforms are used for the AS and RPS, Fibre Channel RAID units support fast reception of data, and data are transferred over a Fibre Channel connection between subsystems. The result is high functionality and flexibility at a low price.
