HRPT - High Resolution Picture Transmission
Array developed and delivered two ground stations to the Atmospheric Environment Service (AES) of Environment Canada. These systems were installed in Downsview, Ontario, and in Edmonton, Alberta. They acquired High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) data from the TIROS-N National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency (NCAA), processed the data in near-real-time, created an archive of raw and processed data, then disseminated data to users across the country through the AES METSIS satellite-based communication network. The systems also provided real-time, quick-look display of data for quality control. The systems were designed to operate unattended for up to seven days, to reduce the cost of providing this service.
