In the sonar field, Array is well known for delivering sonar systems built on its Open System Architecture processor ScalableGSP to the Swedish, German and Canadian Navies. Branded as "Software Defined Sonar" by the Swedish Navy, Array's architecture is the driving force behind that country's future sonar and network-centric systems.

The ScalableGSP is a proven Sonar processing system that is currently deployed, operational and in service with their respective Armed Forces. These systems have passed stringent acceptance testing and are currently processing sonar data from the Swedish Gotland and German U-212 submarines, as well as surface ships and bottom mounted hydrophones deployed in harbour surveillance off the Swedish coast.

The CANTASS Mission Simulator (CMS) is an advanced high-fidelity acoustic Towed Array simulator/trainer built for the Canadian Navy for the training of the sonar operators and supervisors. It can simulate a complex ocean environment and model multi-path effects. It generates realistic raw acoustic data for each hydrophone sensor such that the system operates as though it was at sea.

The CMS mimics the exact look and feel of the shipboard sonar consoles. With high-fidelity acoustic data generation capabilities the system can provide extremely realistic operator training scenarios at a fraction of the costs of training at sea.

Acoustic Signature Classification Software Acoustic Signature Classification Software

The Acoustic Signature Classification Software (ASCS) is designed to aid sonar operators in quickly classifying unknown targets currently being tracked. The operator can search the database using any available information from the target in order to compare the received signals with the signatures in the database. A list of possible matches will be produced and presented which allows the operator to incrementally refine his search until a positive identification is made.

  • The ASCS is based on the classification software in use by the Royal Swedish Navy for over 17 years.
  • The ASCS saves the operator critical time in quickly classifying unknown targets currently being tracked.
