CTASP - COTS Towed Array Signal Processor
Array has played a significant role in developing advanced sonar systems for the Canadian DND. With its experience in parallel computing, high-speed signal processing, and specialized system development, Array has become a leading supplier of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions in the sonar marketplace.
Based on the CANTASS deployed aboard the Canadian Patrol Frigates, Array now offers the CTASP - CANTASS functionality on a COTS platform for a fraction of the price of the full MIL-spec system.
The CTASP eliminates the need to sacrifice performance to reduce acquisition costs and cut down on Integrated Logistics Support. CTASP maintains full system performance while significantly reducing part count, weight and footprint by porting the software functionality of CANTASS to COTS hardware.
Why Use the CTASP Platform?
The CTASP is an advanced signal processing and display system used to detect, localize, and track surface and subsurface targets. CTASP interfaces with the command control system in order to provide fire control solutions.
The CTASP uses commercial high-speed Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) within a VME chassis. This signal processing technology results in a factor of 40 throughput improvement (per card) compared to the full MIL-spec version.
CTASP was developed with an open system architecture and can be made to integrate with most passive towed arrays. This open architecture gives Array the flexibility to deliver CTASP to commercial or fully ruggedized standards. It also provides an excellent pathway for adopting future enhanced technologies.
CTASP Capabilities
Array can supply either a complete end-to-end solution, including handling systems and towed arrays, or integrate the CTASP into an existing towed array platform as a system upgrade.
Array can also provide a CTASP with a Low Frequency Active Sonar (LFAS) solution, either as an original fixture or as a future enhancement.

CTASP Methodology
