GATS - Generic Acoustic Training System
Array's Generic Acoustic Training System (GATS) is a training platform based on Array's successful CANTASS Mission Simulator (CMS). The GATS simulates, with great fidelity, the acoustic environment to provide sonar analysts and supervisors with a unique, advanced training platform for towed array acoustic analysis. An onboard version of the simulator can also be used to stimulate an actual Shipboard Sonar System.
The GATS consists of four major subsystems:
- Instructor Stations
- Virtual Environment Generator
- Multiple Student Stations
- Debrief Recorder
The instructor station together with the virtual environment generator stimulate the student stations by generating and transmitting raw acoustic data which reflects a realistic tactical problem. Students analyze the simulated acoustic data using the student stations. The result provides a highly realistic training environment.
