PCLMC - Packaging the Chain Link Model for CANTASS

Array developed and installed two CANTASS Mission Simulator (CMS) systems for the Department of National Defence (DND). An important feature of the simulations is the generation of realistic high-fidelity acoustic data. Central to this is an accurate model of the towed array.

Array was provided BCable, a chain link model for the towed array as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) for the CMS project. Array integrated this package into the CMS system over the development, integration and installation of the two CMS systems.

We developed a Generic Post Analysis System (GPAS) which encapsulates the signal processing code into small modules termed Generic Signal Processing Blocks (GSPBs). This makes the system easy to extend and customize. The system can be extended by adding new GSPBs.

Array packaged the BCable chain link model as a GPAS GSPB, called Chain Link Model (CLM), and customized the Graphical User Interface (GUI) to allow convenient use of the CLM GSPB for DRDC-Atlantic. We also developed a user's guide which was bundled with the package.

The experience we gained from the CMS project and the Sonar Acoustic Post Processing System (SAPPS) project provided us with the extensive background to successfully deliver this highly developed software package.
